Neither club took any chances tonight as both teams played their aces, Mike Brown took the mound for Sherrill, while Northern Community trotted out Sebastian Bullard in this pivotal pool play game at Floyd's William Schrader Park.
Sherrill jumped out quickly in the top of the first when John Bickom, Ben Ziarko, Julian Moffett and Connor VanDreasen rapped four consecutive one out singles to get the team in red going early.

(Sherrill's Ben Ziarko (15) takes a closer look at his hard ground ball.)
A couple of throwing errors by Northern Community allowed Sherrill to walk away from the top of the first with a 3-0 lead. Not the start Northern Community and young Mr. Bullard were looking for.
Nico Ramos worked a one out walk in the bottom of the first and a two out Sebastian Bullard double into right center field scored Ramos to pull NC to within 3-1 after one complete frame.
After a scoreless top of the second, Northern Community chipped away at the lead again in the home half as Trenton Muniente drew a one out walk and was replaced on the bases by pinch runner Andrew Stowell, who quickly stole second, went to third on an overthrow and then scored on an overthrow to third from the outfield to make it 3-2 after two complete.

(Northern Community pitcher Sebastian Bullard delivers an early strike. Bullard, a 13 year old from Remsen, is a Yankees fan and likes Phys Ed the best in school. Congratulations on being tonight's Babe's Macaroni Grill and Bar player of the game.)
Brown and Bullard combined for 5 strikeouts and just 7 batters in the 3rd inning and Bullard notched two more k's against Sherrill in the top of the 4th, which raised his own game total to 9.
Stephen McGahey led off the bottom of the fourth with a double and following a strikeout by Max Lebuis, Kinsey Williams chopped a ball back to Mike Brown who threw him out at first.
Sherrill first baseman Mitchell DeBarr then threw to third to try to throw out McGahey but his throw went into left field and allowed McGahey to score the tying run, sending us to the 5th inning all knotted up at 3-3.
Sebastian Bullard mowed down the first two Sherrill hitters of the fifth inning, before being substituted on the mound by McGahey, who got the last out himself.
In the bottom half of the fifth Brown struck out the first two Northern Community hitters before being replaced on the mound by Connor VanDreasen.

(Northern Community shortstop Trenton Muniente (12) fires to first for a second inning out as third baseman Stephen McGahey (10) looks on.)
Following a two out walk by Nico Ramos, and an infield single by Dante LaFave, a certain #13 by the name of Sebastian Bullard stepped up to the dish and rifled a double into center field to score Ramos in dramatic fashion and give Northern Community a 4-3 lead after five innings.
The best at bat of the game may have come in the top of the sixth inning when Sherrill's Kevin Levitino battled VanDreasen for 9 pitches before singling to right field to give Sherrill the tying run at first base.
Sherrill's next batter, Julian Moffett grounded to Northern Community second baseman Kinsey Williams, who alertly tagged Levitino and then threw to first for a heart stopping double play and preserving Northern Community's lead at 4-3, which is the way this one would end.

( Northern Community All-Stars celebrate big win!)
After the game, a jubilant Sebastian Bullard told MHTS that he won't forget this game for quite a while "Oh man I'm so pumped, this is awesome, when I was up to bat in the fifth I was just thinking make good contact and score a run and it happened" he said. "Tonight my fastball was working and when I needed the curve it was good too so I'm real happy" Bullard added.
Head coach Andre LeFave knew this game was important, explaining "they came in at 3-0 and we knew we'd have to play a great game to beat them, after this it might just come down to fewest runs allowed to see who advances".
Pool play continues this weekend with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the elimination round beginning next Monday.
Congratulations to both teams on an awesome game and hat's off to Sherrill pitcher Mike Brown, who allowed just 3 hits and struck out 8 over 4 and 2/3 innings.

(Sherrill's Mike Brown (15) fires a 5th inning pitch. Brown finished with 8 strikeouts.)
