The New York Mills Marauders baseball team rebounded from their season opening 3-0 loss to Westmoreland last Saturday with a solid 10-3 victory over an error plagued Oriskany Redskins club today at New York Mills High School in a CSC conference crossover matchup.

Sophomore pitcher Addison Wolanin picked up the win for the Marauders (1-1), allowing 4 hits and 2 runs, striking out 2 and walking 1 over three innings pitched

Mills Junior Jimmy Fellone relieved Wolanin in the 4th and pitched 4 solid innings in relief, scattering 3 hits, striking out 3, walking 2 and allowing just 1 more Redskin run.

The visiting Redskins got off on the right foot early as Mike Bunal drove the game's first pitch into right center field for a stand up double. Bunal later scored on an RBI single off the bat of Brad Sahl and Oriskany took a 1-0 lead to the home half of the first.

The Marauders, still stinging from being no hit by Westmoreland's Brandon Jones last Saturday, got it going in their half of the first. Senior Eddie Schulz started things off with a double and was quickly moved over to third base on a bunt single by Shane Joswick.

After a fly out by Justin Stevener, Addison Wolanin helped his own cause with a double to left scoring Schulz and Joswick to give the Marauders a 2-1 advantage.

Wolanin would later score on a wild pitch from Mike Bunal and New York Mills took a 3-1 lead to the second inning.

Oriskany's Noah Lupini led off the top of the second with a ground ball to third which was booted by the Marauders Frank Walczak, allowing Lupini to reach first base. Lupini reached second on a steal attempt when Mills catcher Justin Stevener's throw went into centerfield.

Two batters later Oriskany's Nate Keating grounded to Mills shortstop Eddie Schulz who bobbled it and Lupini scored from second to pull the Redskins to within 3-2, which is the way we'd go to the bottom of the second.

Marauders junior first baseman Jeff Albright drew a walk to start the home half of the second. Following a strikeout by Jordan Wilcox, Joe Pacini grounded to short but the ball was mishandled by shortstop Noah Lupini and the Marauders were in business with one out and runners at first and second.

Following a Shane Joswick strikeout, Eddie Schulz walked to load the bases. Justin Stevener then walked to score Albright and the home club extended its lead to 4-2. Bunal got Wolanin swinging for the third out of the second inning.

The Redskins went one-two-three in the top of the third. Steve Rossi relieved Mike Bunal on the mound in the bottom of the third for Oriskany. Jeff Albright scored his second run of the game after a two out walk, two consecutive errors by Lupini at shortstop and a bases loaded to walk to Eddie Schulz.

The Marauders took a 5-2 advantage to the fourth inning.
Jimmy Fellone took over for Wolanin on the hill for New York Mills and struck out two of the four batters he faced and getting Rossi to ground out to first base for the third out. Nate Keating drew a walk in the inning.

Justin Stevener scored the Marauders 6th run of the game in the bottom of the fouth when he led off the inning with a double to left. Wolanin moved Stevener to third with a single and Stevener later scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Jonathon Ross, giving the Marauders a 6-2 lead after 4 innings.

Noah Lupini led off the top of the 5th inning with a lead off walk and later scored on a one out double by Brad Sahl to inch the Redskins closer at 6-3. Fellone then struck out Jake O'Neil and Tyler Mccorduck to end the Oriskany threat.

(NY Mills pitcher Jimmy Fellone (12) looks to make a toss to first from his knees to force out Oriskany's Ed Lee (12) in the 6th inning.)

The bottom of the 5th inning saw Rich Matrasse reach base on a single and Jimmy Fellone then driving a ball to left field for what appeared to be a ground rule double. Following a conference by the umpires however, Fellone's hit was ruled out of the park in the air and a two run homerun was awared, giving New York Mills an 8-3 lead, which is the way we'd go to the 6th.

Fellone made quick work of the Redskins in the visitors half of the first, allowing only a single to Mike Bunal before retiring the side on ground ball outs.

Oriskany reliever Jake O'Neil took over on the mound for Rossi in the bottom of the sixth and walked the first three Marauders batters he faced. With the bases loaded, O'Neil was called for a balk on a pick off move to second base and Justin Stevener scored from third.

With runners at second and third and nobody out, O'Neil dug in and struck out Mark Warren and Jeff Albright for two big outs. Jordan Wilcox then stepped in and belted an O'Neil fastball into left field for what was ruled a ground rule double, scoring Addison Wolanin to give the home club a 10-3 lead, which is the way we'd go to the 7th.

Fellone faced 4 batters in the top of the seventh, walking one and striking out two before getting Wyatt Kotary to fly to out to third base for the final out of the game.

Oriskany starts the season at (0-1), while New York Mills evens things out at (1-1) on the season.

Addison Wolanin led the Marauders at the plate with three hits and two RBI, Justin Stevener had three hits, scored twice and drove in 2 runs and Jimmy Fellone had two hits in the winning effort. Mike Bunal led the Oriskany attack with 2 hits, while taking the loss on the mound.
